Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 22, 2026

TimeTracker.Best ("TimeTracker Best", "we", "us", "our") provides time-tracking software on macOS and the web. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our services you agree to this policy.

Beta notice: The service is currently in a beta / pre-release phase. Your data is stored on Google Cloud Firestore with automatic multi-zone replication and point-in-time recovery, and we commit to making reasonable efforts to restore affected data from backups in the event of an incident. Full beta terms — including data-loss risk, backup & recovery commitments, and California-specific carve-outs — are in Section 12 of our Terms of Service.

1. Information we collect

We collect only what the app needs to function:

  • Account information. Your email address, and a password or Google OAuth token used to sign in.
  • Time-tracking data. The project names, clients, task descriptions, hourly rates, and start/end timestamps you enter.
  • App settings. Preferences you configure such as default project, billable flag, and theme.
  • Diagnostic data. If the app crashes, macOS may send Apple an anonymized crash report. We do not collect telemetry, analytics, or usage tracking beyond this.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera input, browsing history, or advertising identifiers. We do not track you across apps or websites.

2. How we use your information

  • Authenticate you and keep you signed in.
  • Store and sync your time entries between the Mac app and the web dashboard.
  • Generate reports, invoices, and earnings summaries from the data you enter.
  • Respond to your support requests.

We do not sell or rent your data to anyone. We do not use your time-tracking content for advertising, training AI models, or any purpose other than operating the service for you.

3. Where your data is stored

Your account and time-tracking data are stored on Google Firebase / Firestore, a cloud platform operated by Google LLC. Google acts as our processor and stores the data on servers in the United States. Google's privacy practices are described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

When you sign in with Google, Google also processes your authentication request under its own privacy policy.

4. Third-party services

TimeTracker Best uses a small, fixed set of third parties — each of which is essential to operating the service:

  • Google Firebase Authentication — sign-in.
  • Google Cloud Firestore — encrypted storage of your data.
  • Apple App Store / App Store Connect — distribution of the macOS app, in accordance with Apple's privacy policy.

We do not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, or cross-site tracking cookies.

5. How long we keep your data

We keep your account and time-tracking data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete all of your stored time entries, projects, and clients within 30 days. Routine backups may retain deleted records for up to 90 additional days before being overwritten.

6. Your rights and choices

  • Access and export. You can export your time entries as CSV or PDF from within the app at any time.
  • Correction. Edit any entry, project, or client directly in the app.
  • Deletion. Delete your account from Settings → Account, or email us at support@timetracker.best. We will permanently remove your data within 30 days.
  • Residents of the EEA, UK, or California have additional rights under GDPR / CCPA, including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. Email us to exercise any of these rights.

7. Security

Data in transit is protected with HTTPS/TLS. Data at rest in Firestore is encrypted by Google using AES-256. We restrict internal access to production data on a need-to-know basis. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password.

8. Children

TimeTracker Best is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please email us and we will delete it.

9. International transfers

Our infrastructure is in the United States. If you access the service from outside the U.S., you consent to your data being processed in the U.S. under this policy.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, when appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the service after the change means you accept the updated policy.
